Fight! Again!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. A couple life changing things in the works right now so the site had to take a back seat for a bit.

Battle! Now that my first round of Battle for the Arts is up, I thought I'd give you a peak into my training.

I wanted to play with the size and shape of the panel, both of which reminded me of Roy Lichtenstein's massive pop art (industrial) work. The square panel is pretty prominent in comics and playing with a border inside the canvas was interesting. Thus, I started working with what/who I wanted to feature and how to work it out with the permanence of a marker. I knew it was going to get messy real quick, so I decided to embrace the mess and work it as part of the energy.

Here's a look at the layout process, as I played around with several small squares and worked with the ones I liked.

And the tentacles? He had to have something to say was "preposterous"...

Here's a video they had on KELO that shows the process and final product.

The end piece was a little squatty and I think the face could have been more proportional.  Maybe next time.

Speaking of next time... I'm up again this Thursday March 18th at Club David!  Same time, same place.

If you're interested in seeing the next panel in the strip, stop by at 9.00 pm or so.
